Teaching and research experiment platform

The Faculty of Synthetic Biology has excellent teaching and research environment and conditions. In addition to the teaching areas and facilities planned by SIAT, the faculty also has an institutionalized professional laboratory system and first-class scientific research equipment,  it allows teachers to combine teaching with research and learn from each other.

At the same time, the “Major Scientific and Technological Infrastructure for Synthetic Biology Research” (hereinafter referred to as the “Shenzhen Biofoundry”) led by SIAT is China’s first major synthetic biology facility under construction, with a total investment of approximately RMB 2 billion. It is an industrial synthetic biology research platform that combines the user’s “cloud laboratory” and the operator’s “smart laboratory” in one. It integrates automation, information technology and biological design to achieve high-throughput, standardized synthetic biology research and development capabilities, and serves academic research and industrial application needs.
