The Faculty of Synthetic Biology emphasizes the organic combination of basic disciplines and cross-disciplines, setting up basic theories and experimental courses in biological sciences and engineering biology, and providing a large number of opportunities for students to participate in scientific research practice at the same time. Through the establishment of ten special platforms, the faculty encourages interest orientation and integrates innovation and entrepreneurship into all aspects of education with the integration of teaching and research thinking of “knowing by doing, unity of knowing and doing”.

The faculty attaches great importance to the development of internationalization, carries out various degrees of cooperation in China and abroad, enhances global reputation and influence, and helps the construction of a world-class synthetic biology college .Cooperation in running schools, joint training, joint construction of academic research centers, holding cutting-edge academic reports and seminars, international exchanges, and other forms of activities will help to promote the opening up exchanges and cooperation in the fields of education, teaching and scientific research, broaden students’ international vision and competition strength, and enrich the campus cultural life.

The faculty is entrusted to undertake a series of synthetic biology academic activities such as the China Synthetic Biology Annual Conference, Engineering Biology Innovation Conference and so on. The faculty also hosts the Synbio Challenges and iGEM Jamboree Meetup in China. The Synbio Challenges brings together the talents of high school students, college students and graduate students to create China’s top synthetic biology competition and innovation incubation platform.
