Center for Advanced Interdisciplinary Synthetic Biology Research
The center focuses on key scientific and technical issues of artificial life design, such as the fundamental biological design principles, synthetic construction capabilities and engineering technology platforms of synthetic biology. By integrating computational biology, quantitative biology, systems biology, as well as the methodology of mathematics, physics, information and engineering, to study the quantitative laws behind biological systems across scales, and adopt engineering concepts to design, improve and even create a new life, in order to meet the advanced need of human health.
The Center aims to establish a world-class synthetic biology research and education center, to promote the integration of synthetic biology and other disciplines, to promote domestic and foreign academic exchanges, and to form the innovative education environment for both undergraduates and graduate students. The center will strengthen the combination of basic theoretical research and human health and disease issues, promote the translations of synthetic biological systems into smart drugs, and provide new treatment strategies for humans and other organisms.
